Job Huntin’ as a 20-Somethin’: What am I doing with my life?!

“What am I doing with my life?!”. Safe to say that is a sentence I have been saying a lot more recently, as the job hunt continues. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve not applied for a huge number of jobs, only ones that seem ‘perfect’, and I’ve not really received any rejections as such. So it’s not as if the job hunt is going horrifically, I am just slowly losing confidence. Perhaps not in myself, (I am wonderful), but perhaps in others’ ability to recognise this(!)

OOTD: Anniversary/Date Night/Proposal(!)

So, I’ve been planning this post since I bought the outfit, thinking it was for our two year anniversary date, however that night turned into our engagement too, which seems like even more reason to blog it!

Cute, but easy Bridesmaid Proposal DIY!

My mantra for this wedding is ‘I only plan on doing this once, so let’s do it right’. Don’t get me wrong, this doesn’t mean I want to spend a whole bunch of unnecessary money on it, but I do want it to be special. So, instead of just calling my friends to ask them to be Bridesmaids, I decided to make a little keep sake for them to pop the question as it were. I looked all over Pinterest but everything seemed to cost quite a bit, and with a fair few bridesmaids, I just couldn’t afford that!
As I was going home just a few days after we had gotten engaged, and I wanted to ask them in person, this meant I had to think fast, on a very tight budget. I got a multi pack of matches, in the bigger box, for about £1. Everything else used were just bits and pieces from my over flowing craft drawers.

WTF I’m engaged!

Holy crap balls, I am engaged. I, Codie Louise Austin, who has no matching socks or earrings, who would eat chocolate for breakfast every day, who still thinks farts are hilarious, am getting married!

Sunday blues…

Controversial opinion time: I hate Sundays. I mean, I really hate them. Saturdays, I love! But for as long as I can remember, Sundays have sucked. It’s not necessarily the impending doom of school or work the next day, or the pressure to start yet another diet on Monday, I just always have a rubbish feeling on a Sunday. If …

Why Wear a Hat Day?!

Grab your tissues, boys and girls, this one might get a bit emosh!
Way back in the Summer of 2010, before we even knew the other existed, my best friend Paul began to feel really poorly. He chalked it down to a tummy bug, but when the dizziness, nausea and headaches lasted for 10 weeks with no confirmed diagnoses, even with an appointment with a specialist, Paul started to think that this was just the way things were going to be for the foreseeable future.

Sending love to Liechtenstein!

Every now and then, a friend invites me to a group on Facebook that is actually interesting. Rarely, of course, as they are usually for Boxing Clubs in a city I’ve not lived in in four years… At first glance, ‘Opaque FL’ was of no interest to me and I just clicked off, completely forgetting about it until I received a message from a friend telling me more…

Job Huntin’ as a 20-Somethin’ – In the beginning…

Since my 16th birthday, I have always had a job. Several at once at some points, as I tried to juggle education and part-time jobs (and occasionally sleep too!). It’s a very odd feeling now then that by July 31st my contract at my current job will be over and I will, hopefully, be starting a new exciting job, somewhere entirely different. It’s a scary freedom to be able to move anywhere in the country, if not the world, to start a new job, and to be stood at the edge of a cliff with the whole world at your feet. There are a few things I would quite like to go into, and looking for jobs in these fields is an adventure in itself. (One which I have decided to document here on my humble blog in a new job hunting series!)

Codiekinz’ Top Tips for CV Writing Success!

Major nerd alert: I LOVE rewriting people’s CVs. I think it’s the same principle as tidying someone else’s room. Doing yours seems impossible, but something new and unseen is weirdly fulfilling. So last weekend I offered my CV rewriting services as a freebie (or ‘pay what you like’) to get some buzz around them, but to also enable some of my student friends to be able to get their CV looked at without forking over cash. It’s been great and I got a whole load to look over, so I figured I would write a little post about my top tips!

How blogging became part of my life

Today I woke up to find that I am UKBloggers blog of the day! This seems like the perfect excuse to reflect on the past year or so of blogging about travel, books, lifestyle and downright nonsense. I’ve always loved to write and I have a lot of opinions! Finding the blogging community has really opened my eyes and with my first proper blogger meet up happening in the summer I feel like I’m starting to belong!
