AD| Using AI in business – and why I’m actually all for it!

I don’t know about you, but when I hear the term “AI in business,” I immediately start thinking of Black Mirror vibes – robot overlords, facial recognition gone wrong, and humans being bossed around by overly smug algorithms. But actually, when you scratch the sci-fi surface, AI in the workplace is way less “Skynet” and way more “having a really efficient assistant who doesn’t need a lunch break.”

I won’t lie, I was a little reluctant to utilise AI for a while. But now, I get the appeal. I don’t want to use it to replace artists or for the fun stuff, but when I can’t work out what’s wrong with a piece of code, or I need someone (or I guess, something?) to help me brainstorm ideas for a new offering, I know that my sassy little AI friend can help.

AI, or Artificial Intelligence (for those of us who still pretend to know what that means at networking events), is increasingly popping up in all sorts of industries. And honestly? It’s making businesses run smoother, smarter, and more sustainably. Whether it’s automating boring tasks (goodbye data entry, hello creativity!) or spotting trends faster than your most caffeinated colleague, AI is doing some impressive stuff.

As someone who juggles about 47 tabs open in my brain at any one time (hello, ADHD life), I’m all for tools that help streamline the chaos. AI is kind of like the ultimate productivity hack, but for entire companies. It can forecast sales, improve customer service, manage inventory, and even keep an eye on production quality.

That’s where companies like Industrial Vision Systems come in. They’re doing some seriously cool things with AI and machine vision technology, especially in manufacturing. Think of them as the eyes of the business world – using clever cameras and algorithms to spot defects on production lines, check for quality, and basically make sure everything’s running like a well-oiled, incredibly high-tech machine.

What I love about this kind of tech is that it’s not about replacing people -it’s about empowering them. No one really wants to spend their day staring at identical widgets, trying to spot a tiny flaw. But a system that can do that quickly and accurately? Yes please. That frees up real human brains to do what we do best: problem-solving, innovating, and, well, drinking slightly too much coffee while we come up with our next big idea.

Of course, as with anything shiny and new, there are always questions. Will AI take our jobs? Is it ethical? Are we just teaching robots how to beat us at everything, including Mario Kart? But I think the key lies in how we use the tech. When it’s about improving processes, reducing waste, and making life easier, AI becomes a tool rather than a threat.

So, if you’re running a business – or dreaming one up at 3am with a notebook full of scribbles – don’t be afraid to explore what AI can offer. Whether it’s improving efficiency or giving you more headspace for the creative stuff, this tech is definitely worth watching.

And who knows? The robots might just be the best colleagues we’ve ever had.
